Senior Fun - Senior Community Activities 

Senior activities play an important role in the decision to place a senior in care. There are many fun things seniors can do in senior living establishments, and many of them can help seniors adjust to the environment as well as provide companionship and mental stimulation.

Bingo or bowling might be the first two things that pop into your mind when you think of senior activities, and while it’s commonplace to have these, senior centers today are filling their books with many different community activities that can stimulate seniors mentally, physically, as well as throw in some fun and community into the mix.


Movie night is standard at senior living places, but it won’t just be packed with the classics like “Gone with the Wind” and “The Great Gatsby”, newer movies will also be thrown into the mix.


It’s important to stay in shape for both the body and the mind, and most senior centers today will offer some form of dancing or aerobics classes.


Painting, writing, working with clay, all of these are probably happening right now in a senior center nearby you. They are commonplace and let seniors explore their creativity and imagination.

Field Trips

Most seniors should expect to find themselves at outlet malls, parks, casinos, and many other places during their stay at a senior center. Check your local senior center’s event’s listing page and it should show you a plethora of field trips coming up.

Being a senior doesn’t mean that all sense of fun and activity is dwindling down. Most senior centers today provide seniors with a good range of activities to do daily, and most of these can help them improve their bodies and minds. They may even make a few friends along the way.
